Carina Kramer is an Associate at Openstudio Architects.
Carina completed her Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Cape Town after being on the Deans’ Merit list for two consecutive years. She spent her year out travelling and gaining work experience at PRP Architects in Surrey on a range of healthcare projects. Upon returning to South Africa Carina joined Vivid Architects where she was involved in mixed-use commercial and hotel developments as well as high-end private residential projects.
Carina qualified further with an international Masters in Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano in Italy. She joined Milan-based studio Officina Architetti where she worked for 5 years on a range of international projects. These include private villas and hotels in Georgia and Odessa, a masterplan concept for Eko Beach in Lagos Nigera and various residential and commercial office schemes in Colombia. She managed the development of a 300 unit residential scheme near Bogota, Colombia.
Carina joined Openstudio as a key part of the team involved in the redevelopment of the Grade II Listed Westminster Fire Station in 2015. Other projects include private houses, interiors and the winning scheme for the RIBA Taylor Wimpey 2020 competition. She has experience working with both Listed Buildings and contemporary projects. Her attention to detail and collaborative approach to the design of all aspects of buildings ensure elegant, robust and cohesive designs.
