Westminster Fire Station: Facade Progress
Work to complete the external brickwork for the new building in the courtyard of Westminster Fire Station continues, with the layering of glazed and unglazed bricks varying with the height of the building. The patterns trace the levels and features of the existing 1906 building onto the fabric of the new building, so that the two are tied together in a subtle and delicate way that also highlights lines of light across the façade.
The precast concrete cills and copings for the new building in the courtyard are on site and will be installed into the brickwork. They have been cast in a pale sand colour to tone in with the colour of the bricks and the glazed bricks in the existing fire station.
