We are in the early stages of design for a new house in the Karoo, a semi-desert region adjacent to the Swartberg in the same town as Swartberg House. The site is vast and astonishing, with clear views of the mountains. This also provides challenges, as wind can be severe and the site is very exposed to sun in summer.

We are developing a strategy to create a special place which creates a world within the spectacular site, shielding the inhabitants from the harsher elements, while enabling them to connect to the unique sense of place and climate in this special part of the world.
