Jayson Young is an Associate at Openstudio Architects.
Jayson gained a Bachelor of Architecture with First Class Honours from The Arts University in Bournemouth, winning the Undergraduate prize for architecture. Jayson also has a Masters in Architecture degree from Umeå University, Sweden. He brings a strong background in sustainability to the practice. His qualifications and experience in integrating passive techniques and intelligent planning, allow buildings to be cost efficient, work contextually in their environment, and improve comfort for the inhabitants.
Before joining Openstudio in 2014 he worked for Footprint Architects, where he gained experience in the residential, commercial, health and educational sectors. He has worked on several listed buildings, including a contemporary extension to a Grade-II listed Victorian school in Dorset. Projects for Openstudio include several high-end private residential projects, the restoration of a Grade I listed apartment, a competition shortlisted city square for Birmingham, and research into modular ‘tenure-blind’ housing for London. Recently he has been involved in the high-end residential schemes for Strutton Ground and Westminster Fire Station and was part of the team that designed the RIBA ‘Infinite House’ scheme for prototype housing in the UK.
